Get out your pen and notebook and write this down. It's your battle plan for spiritual warfare against doubt and fear

The Battle Plan For Spiritual Warfare Against Doubt and Fear

It’s a spiritual battle against that nagging feeling of doubt and fear. That feeling that no matter what you do it isn’t going to be enough to hold this life together forever. Everything could fall apart at any moment, any day now. Do you question whether or not you’re doing life right? Wondering if you’ve missed something? Worried that one day they’ll get sick of who you are and how you do things and get rid of you (whoever they may be)?

Women in today’s world battle self-doubt and fear every. single. day. It can tear us down and strip us of all hope. This battle is no joke. It can be hard to hang on to our strength and confidence.

But you know what? We CAN do it. We can rise up and win the war against fear and doubt. Here are some ways how. Straighten your crown and break out your lasso Wonder Woman. We’re getting serious about this battle!

STEP 1 – Know the TACTICS OF THE Enemy.

A good warrior takes the time to study the enemy. Ephesians 6 reminds us that we wage war not against flesh and blood but the power of Satan and his army. Like I said, this battle is no joke.

Know the tactics that are going to be used against you. Some of his favorite battle tactics are taking the word of God and twisting it. Just like he caused Eve to doubt, he will try to make you doubt what God says about you. He will sometimes use the words of people you love and admire. He will try to use false prophets.

Step 2 – Sound the Alarm.

Recognizing Doubt and Fear.

We know who the enemy is and some of his tactics. Now remember the enemy isn’t going to knock at your front door with a forked tail and a pitchfork. We’ve got to remember to look beyond the obvious. You make a pretty big mistake in the budget. You forget something important. You and your man have a fight. All those emotions and thoughts come flooding in.

“I suck at this. I’m not cut out for this. Maybe this life would be easier somewhere else…with someone else.”

Or maybe something less drastic. “I can’t believe I did that. How embarrassing. I feel so stupid. I should know better than that.”

That’s when the lights and alarms should start blaring. Learn to recognize when the self doubt and fears start filling your head. How? Be self aware. Take notice of what thoughts you’re thinking and categorize them. Are they truth from the word of God? Are they twisted attacks on who you are in Christ? Don’t you dare let the enemy come into your mind and heart and take over your moments without so much as a recognition of a fight. Little bit of tough love. You’d tell me the same thing.

Step 3 – PUT UP Your First Defense.

Prayer.

As soon as the alarms sound you call to the King! Like in Mulan when they light the fires on the Great Wall. “Now all of China knows you’re here.” Remember that line? My go to first move is always to say (out loud) “I bind and rebuke you Satan in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.” Christ conquered the grave. For ME. For YOU. He has given you authority in His name. The devil will flee!

“Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

Immediately start praying. Pray for God to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Thank God for sending Jesus to save you. Claim the power and might you have in His name. His presence will flood your heart with His love and drown out the fears. Just keep praying! You may be claiming His presence for half an hour before you feel the doubt and fear dissipate. That’s ok. Don’t give up. You can repeat your prayer. The devil will flee.

If you fumble for the words among the fear and doubt, I’ve got your back. Here are some prayers I keep in my armory for when I can’t seem to find my own words. Thanks Nichole. Thanks Francesca.

The Lord’s Prayer – Father in Heaven, holy is your name. Let your kingdom come. Let your will be done here on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us of our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen

STEP 4 – BE TRAINED & READY.

LEARN YOUR WEAPON.

Speaking of the Lord’s Prayer, let’s not overlook a most important part of the battle. Our weaponry! Step aside Diana. We fight using a sword more powerful than any truth lasso. Scripture. Ephesians 6 also tells us to take hold of the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. Warrior, we’ve got to do our training. This.is.war. You can sound the alarms and call to the King but it will do you well to be trained to fight.

Don’t go in the battle against fear and doubt empty handed. Know your Bible. Psalms is an entire book of songs and prayers from valiant warriors before us! Work on scripture memorization so that you can slice through the enemy’s lies with the sharpest sword available to mankind.

STEP 5 – BUILD YOUR ARMY.

ENLIST FELLOW WARRIORS.

No one has to fight alone. This is another tactic that the enemy uses to try to defeat us. Don’t allow the enemy isolate you. God has sent the Holy Spirit to fill you with strength and power. He has also sent your friends.

Build an army of support. You have people who love you, know how it feels to battle doubt and fear of their own, and are more than willing to help. Enlist teammates for the battle. Connect with your fellow warriors…over Starbucks. 😉 Ask for prayer. Ask for help. Accept the help offered (that’s important)! Give updates. Celebrate victories together.

Be encouraged, friend! God is with you. He has defeated the enemy and paid the price for your sins. Christ will return again. This broken world will be restored.
